Terms & Conditions
THE GROOMING PROCEDURE
We take the utmost care throughout the grooming process to ensure the health, safety & welfare of your dog. However, we will not be held responsible for any pre-existing conditions or problems found during the grooming process. It is very important that you make us aware of any health conditions or allergies your dog has or has had in the past.
We will bring to your attention any problems we find whilst grooming your dog. For example teeth condition, skin problems, ears, lumps and bumps, abrasions, fleas and will advise a trip to the vet where necessary.
We will bring to your attention any areas of your dogs coat that we feel are too matted to be brushed out. In the case of a matted coat we will clip them short for the welfare of the dog.
MATTED COATS
The Animal Welfare Act (2007) states that “All animals are to be protected from pain, suffering and disease”. Dematting can be a painful and distressing procedure and we will not cause your dog pain or suffering. Where we consider the coat to be severely matted, the coat will be shaved off with clippers - We will use the longest blade we can safely use to clip through the coat behind the matts without pulling or snagging. This is not a painful procedure but it will leave the coat very short. Your dogs skin may look red or sore - When a severely matted coat is clipped off, all the blood rushes back up to the surface of the skin which causes the redness. This doesn’t last long and soon settles. If this happens we will apply Leucillin Antiseptic Spray to soothe and calm the area. The groom may not look perfect however, it is more important that the matting is removed and the dog is comfortable. There is usually an extra charge on top of the groom, this covers sharpening of blades and extra time incurred.
DISCONTINUATION OF GROOMING
We reserve the right to cease a groom if there is a possibility of injury to either the dog or the groomer due to a dog becoming stressed by the grooming process.
We reserve the right to refuse to groom any dog that displays aggressive behaviour. You must inform us prior to grooming if your dog has ever bitten or displayed aggression - Disclosing this information does not necessarily mean we will refuse to groom your dog but it will allow us the opportunity to assess any risk to ourselves or your pet.
PHOTOGRAPHS
We often take before & after photos of the dogs that we groom and use them on our website and social media.
CANCELLED APPOINTMENTS
We understand that plans change and that you may need to cancel or change your scheduled appointment. It is really important that a minimum of 24 hours notice is given if cancelling an appointment as we may be able to offer this slot to another customer. If no notice is given, 50% of the grooming fee may be charged and this will be payable prior to another appointment being given. Obviously, each situation is unique and extenuating circumstances will be given consideration.
